"STAR ITEMS" ! Two original Panini "Mexico 70" wood-&-resin carving/mouldings for the original print plates which printed the packets. Two packet-printing blocks. Immeasurably rare! Size : larger item is about 8 inches by about 6 inches, and the smaller one is about 8 inches by about 3 inches. Each is about 1/8th inch thick, or around 4mm thickness. The material is carved wood with a resin glaze. Made at Panini in 1969 for next year's world cup, a cards collection which has taken the world by storm: Mexico 70. The main designs were overlaid, for different colours, hence the two parts to the printer's block. The back of the packet seen was not used, a later rear-design image was eventually utilised but the two larger images did make the front of the Panini packets for the international release. Note, also seen on the smaller carving moulding are the English the French and the German World Cup names, included in preparation for the various international releases. SOLD AS SEEN, each item has paper residue to the back, from old Panini labels, which have worn away, and some pen marks. The wood is bowed after all these years but both are intact!
